TO INCREASE ABSORPTION of hard to absorb "herbs"

(the following email was sent to Claudia a time ago)

"From some reading I am thinking that the basic process of coating with a sugar and then a fat would substantially increase absorption of many harder to absorb herbs and the like". This from Elizabeth "In Ayurvedic medicine you take remedies together with ghee and honey - fat and sugar."

"While searching to find how to increase absorption of quercetin I came across your video where you were "compounding pharmacist Claudia" making lysosomal vitamin C. As you use quercetin and seem to be an experimenter I thought to pass some info I found in two patents. The first is an Indena SpA patent who make Quercefit. In their earlier application documents ( only the final 2020 patent seems easily available now) they made an interesting revelation that a simple mechanical mixture of quercetin and maltodextrin or fructose (or other sugar) and lecithin (they use sunflower) in the range of 1-1-1 or equal parts (or a number of ratios) increased absorption by 10 times while their lysosomal/phytosome product where they dissolve all in 190 proof ethanol which, at that time, they said increased absorption by 20 times. Now in the final document they claim that that their full process increases absorption by 50 times and they make no mention of the efficacy of the simple mechanical mixture but they do put a graph at the very beginning of the document which shows the low absorption of quercetin, the higher absorption of the :"physical mixture" (mechanical mixture) and the highest absorption of their "solid dispersion" which is their alcohol dissolved and dried "phytosome product Quercefit. That graph is best seen in the pdf US20200.... They say the use of the sugar is important.

I use the back of a tablespoon against a plate to first grind together the quercetin and the maltodextrin (sugar) then the lecithin. I figure it has to be good for a 5+ times increase in absorption depending on how well the "mechanical mixture" works, but I don't know. You might be sensitive enough to tell if a smaller amount of the mixture works as well as a regular dose. From some reading I am thinking that the basic process of coating with a sugar and then a fat would substantially increase absorption of many harder to absorb herbs and the like."

I have since dissolved the "sugar" (nutricost organic maltodextrin "TapiOK" brand) in water then mixed in the harder to absorb "herb" then mixed in the fat (Now brand sunflower lecithin). My experience says this is a more effective way to "attach" the "sugar", and lecithin does attach to both water and fat and may, then, present to a fat receptive absorption site in the body as does the maltodextrin absorb easily into the body as per its use by elite long distance runners (some like straight maltodextrin and some like 3 parts maltodextrin and 1 part fructose in water +++ for fuel and hydration during the run)

the other patent US8440... helps inform the usefulness of taking quercetin with B3 and C. I do not think you have to be concerned with the C." (with all the lysosomal C you use)

from the other patent "Additional and related Surprising observations include that a combination of quercetin, vitamin B3. and vitamin C maintains quercetin levels in plasma up to five times those of quercetin alone or a combination of quercetin..."

Thank You for all you share. James

This explains why my grandmother died in a car accident at 98 (she was driving but it was late afternoon with sun in her eyes and an illegal alien unlicensed other driver). The woman drank a minimum of two cups of tea a day her whole adult life. This happened in 2016. I think she’d still be with us, albeit living with my mother if that hadn’t happened.

Who would have thought. Herbs and spices can have medicinal benefits after all.

Dr. Been, thank you for sharing and elaborating on this study. It was timely as I am of a certain age when cognitive decline can begin to be noticed by family/friends. However, I have purposed to be a step ahead of them while my faculties are still in tact. But …

The other day you mentioned a slight lapse and then realized you had not taken MCT and quickly remedied it. That triggered me to do the same because over the past six months I noticed too many pauses in my speech to filter through words to match my intent. It was a new thing. I didn’t like it, so thank you for the reminder of the importance of MCT as an element of assistance. The pauses in speech have disappeared and, I no longer need afternoon naps. That was a nice bonus.

I want to offer my list: cup of black beans every day in breakfast burrito; tablespoon of MCT with coffee/tea; olive oil; local honey instead of sugar; and, red/yellow skinned vegetables which, of course, includes Hatch red chile homecooked to perfection! 😍

Early 2021, without question, I took two initial doses of Pfizer three weeks apart, both of which had expiration dates. As the medical community began to raise questions, in August I began a weekly 15mg dose of IVM and subscribed to Dr. Zelenko’s Z-stack (with quercetin), switching to his Z-Detox when it was available. Then, FLCCC offered updated protocol recommendations for post-vax people that now includes your intermittent fasting, so I am now following that while still on the preventive maintenance dose of IVM.

It has been a long, necessarily vigilent road for us who know little to nothing of medicine - the common citizens. To this day I have not had the virus, nor have I had as much as a cold. So thank you for helping to guide us through some of the darkest medical days of our lives. You made and are still making a difference. Our gratitude cannot be measured.

Enjoy your trip!
