Qatar Study Vs. US VA Study

These two studies are breaking the internet (one from the US and the other from Qatar). People are tearing each other apart to prove why one study is better than the other, or different than the other, etc. The reality is that these two studies are quite different in terms of the questions asked, cohorts observed, and the answers provided. While both studies look at the severity of COVID during the reinfection, even these results cannot be compared because the cohorts are hugely different.

To help clarify the differences here are my notes comparing the two studies and why they can only be combined to form a story but not compared or contrasted to each other.

1. VA study is for the VA patients. Qatar study includes the entire population of Qatar.
