Higher the LDL the Lower The Mortality (Dr. Nadir Ali)
We discussed the following basic ideas about the LDL levels yesterday:
Traditional medicine says high LDL levels are bad (in conjunction with low HDL and high triglycerides).
Lean mass hyper responders (LMHR) individuals show that very high LDL levels aren't causing vascular damage. This is curious and challenges the idea of high LDL causing inflammation.
Newer evidence is emerging that the inflammatory state of the body is important to assess the damage that LDL/ApoB/Cholesterol can do.
There are a few doctors including Dr. Nadir Ali who say that high LDL are actually protective against vascular damage and the presence of LDL in the plaque is because of the LDL being their to help protect the blood vessel.
